The manufacturer I worked for used these to install trigger guards on hundreds of rifles with no issues.

Great pliers and everything. It might have worked fine for you but the trigger guard ears need to be supported otherwise they will break.

Just 3 screws + some locktite without any messing around with pins or need of specialized tools. 100% safe on the lower.

Personally, I use the MAGPUL BEV Block for upper receiver/barreling work. Works great. It can also be used to secure a lower receiver as well. The MAGPUL Armorer's wrench is a great choice. It is the best and most useful one I have ever used.

Did you use a special method to install pins using those pliers? I'm not questioning your experience, just want to learn the trick if there is one.

I've done plier method on bolt catch pin which is less risky, but second time around just decided to buy a proper holder and punch. It seems to me that it would be easier to use a roll pin holder and punch to do it properly, especially at the manufacturer scale.

For that I like the Wheeler tool--it's kinda like a mini vise with jaws that hold your receiver, the TG supports the ears, a slave pin goes into the RP hole and as you screw it down to push the RP in the slave pin pops out the other side.

I have this tool for the trigger guard roll pin. Works well and does the job quite well.
