    Magazine opinion

just ordered some thirty round D&H aluminum, Teflon coated magazines and Ammend2 polymer magazines. The Ammend2 were $6.99 (Prepper Gun Shop) and the D&H were $8.99 (Palmetto State).

    So my questions are:
    1) are the D&H really mil spec? We're they ever GI issue? (OKAY mags were $12)

    2) have you used or heard anything about either of these mags?

    3) how many mags per rifle do you think is a good / minimum number?

    4) do you think there is a danger of these being banned?

    5) what is your preferred AR magazine and why? I've used mostly Pmag Gen 2 in the past.

    Looking forward to your feedback.

D&H is GTG; I typically use NHMTG/OKAY/Surefeed (all the same, just different names) these days, but have about 20+ D&H under BCM & DSG branding.

Not a huge fan of PMAG M2s, too slick but I have some M3s.

Overall I use any of the D&H/OKAY for metal and PMAG M3s for polymer.

Life is took short to mess around with the others - these are proven.

IDGAF about 'banned', mine will go nowhere.

12 minimum for a semi-auto rifle; 3 for training, 3 for duty, 6 spares. Prefer 24+ though and with multiple ARs, any serious person needs 100+

I think BCM mags are made by D&H, and they're good.

I'd be shocked if they tried another ban. The last one was worthless.

I would expect the Ammend2 to perform about like you would expect a off brand $6.99 polymer mag would. In other words I would think that soon they will make good targets.

Meh... you can always make back $5 of 'em on Armslist.

Two things about the polymer mag business I have to shake my head at:
    1. Other than just running a con what makes someone think there is a need for a better mousetrap than provided by Magpul and they are the ones to provide it? Even some big name brands have fallen into this trap.
    2. Why would anyone bother to spend money to give them a try.

I would stick to magazines approved for US military use for one reason, testing, before they are approved they put them through environmental extremes and run hundreds of thousands of rounds through them. Not many of even the big name companies do even a fraction of this unless they are going for a gov contract. So yeah you are paying more for Magpul but in return you are purchasing a product that has been engineered, tested and QA'd to work under all conditions. Are they all going to be perfect in all rifles, probably not but a much higher percentage are going to work longer with fewer problems than something made by a fly by night company and at just twice the price that makes them a bargain.

D&H good to go as others have said. I have a bunch and no issues

Never used Amend and have heard much in them. I would regulate these to range/plinking use only unless you seriously test them

The only other poly mag I have used other than Magpul gen 2/3 are lancer. I would say they are good to go but are more expensive.

I tend to like the gi mags these days

I prefer and use pmags regularly. I just like them.
I stock D&H. The few I have used have worked well.

Budget mags are a hard pass, especially poly. You lose more than you save throwing out the ones that dont work, IME... and the ones that do dont for long.

This recent video from Regular Guy of the amend 2 would make me think they’re not even range toy worthy. https://youtu.be/U3T5EmV8Tt8

A Knob Creek vendor back in the spring had Troy mags for $8 and the 4 I got to try have been perfect so far. Only negative outside of makers history is slick as snot, but I have a soldering iron and spray grit if I get the interest to remedy.

No way I would pay the same (Or close) for the Troy as I would a PMAG though, but most prices were up, presumably due to the PRK mag reprieve.
