    Isn't 36 the ole Marines initial sight-in for 300 with a 20"?

Most of this boils down to exactly how you set your parameters , and how much importance you place upon shooting at the far end of your intended distance, and how far you feel that would be

    * For Me * , I place more emphasis on POI at short and medium distances , than stretching an extra few yards at the far end . I'd rather have really close out to 250, and hold a hair high at 300 , than be closer at 300, at expense of up to twice the offset at more common distances .

For really lower vels/ higher trajectories , I would prefer to maintain the closer offsets at short to medium , at the trade off of shorter parameter of holding high at farther distances.

But that's all personal preference, YMMV , etc

I don't know about the Marines, but I was thinking this had to be close to what the Army does/did with an M16A2 and the elevation adjustment made to the sights for the 25 meter zero.
