    DRD Tactical?

So, is this something of a "boutique" rifle?

"DRD says their “patented internal recoil system eliminates the standard buffer tube/spring associated with most 556/300BLK rifles allowing the rifle to be fired with the stock folded.” While the APTUS “can be assembled in less than 60 seconds without the use of any tools.” Depending on 10.5 or 16in barrel the APTUS has an overall length of 19.5-27.5in. The rifles are DI but do not have the AR-15s typical buffer system or lower receiver, instead having a left-side charging handle and a folding, adjustable stock."

    Interesting rifle.

Were there any other “DI” AR type rifles with folding stocks developed before?

I wonder in the contract was for black or battle-worn finish.

Is this the second coming of the Para-Ordnance TTR, that went nowhere?

Whoever the customer is, presumably the standard M4A1 wasn't sufficiently cool?

If it is, then more like 3rd(or more) coming due to LR 300.

LR300 was a piston. This is DI.

For some reason I get a strange feeling that a bulk of these will be used in the 8" barrel 300 BlackOut, just going off the single silencer to rule them all approach.

As to the function, no clue; have never handled or shot one.

LR300 uses the same direct gas internal piston of the AR15, not an external piston. It has a lengthened carrier key that extends forward to interface with a shortened gas tube off the gas block. The recoil spring encapsulates the extended carrier key and is retained by a half-circular clip that engages an annular recess in the extended carrier key.
