    Tell me about MSAP plates

I bought some off a guy online, and I just wanted to know more about them.

    1. What does MSAP stand for?

    2. Are they standalone?

    3. What are they rated to stop?

    4. What materials are they made from? Boron carbide and spectra? Silicon carbide and spectra? Something else entirely?

Don't hesitate to add anything else you might know about them.

MSAP stands for modular supplemental armor protection. It's similar to IOTV and has plates for groin, deltoid hips. I'm not sure what plates they use for the chest and the back but they should all have their ratinga on the armor.

Do you have a link from where you bought it?

Do you know if the side plates are standalone or what threats they can defeat?

Should be stand alone but hard to say without seeing them. Do they have a rating on the inside?
If not I'm not sure I'd trust them.

Based on the NSN number it looks to be level III since it's rated to 7.62 M80 ball.
