Anyone here own a Vang Comp?

I just ordered one. 18” 870 Police with a Magpul stock and Surefire fore-end, all the Vang comp stuff.

I handled a friend’s 870 Police with a speed feed stock, and compared to my Benelli M4, I really do believe it handles better (slightly less weight). Regardless, I wanted a pump shotgun just in case the National Socialist wing of the Democratic Party takes over and declares a semi-auto ban.

I’ll post a full review when I get it in about 90 days.

I had a VangComp 870 years ago and it was a shooter. The main advantage of his barrel modifications is the removal of the need to shoot flitecontrol buckshot to get excellent patterns at distance. That barrel will hold great patterns with really cheap buckshot. Mine would consistently keep all the pellets in a 9 pellet load on a B27 at 50 yards. I used it to knock down steel "pepper poppers" at 100 yards to show off. I have heard they don't shoot flitecontrol well though, but that is just what I've been told.

Mossy Vang Complete owner. My experience mirrors that of BKS. Great shooter with lower cost ammo. Don't care for the surefire fore end though. In my experience way too prone to white light NDs.

What do you prefer then for a shotgun light?

Not hating on Vang Comp but have you ever compared those results with a barrel that has been back-bored to .742? Any competent 'smith should be able to do it for much less. Really increases pattern density on all loads.

Sounds reasonable, Hans was local to me at the time and the price was not unreasonable for the work. His work is top notch so I was and still am pleased with giving him my money.

I bought a used 590 that already had the Vangcomp work done. While I can’t comment on how much it changed the pattern on this specific gun, I can say that the grouping is tighter than other 590s that I compared it to. Would I have gotten it done if it didn’t already have it? Most likely yes. It also came with the older model surefire fore-end. I had planned on getting one anyway and I am pretty happy with it. Hope that helps.

I would like to hear how you like your Magpul stock when you get yours. I’ve been thinking about one but haven’t tried it personally so I don’t know how much (if any) improvement there is
