Service rifle matches in Canada appear to be less constrained than the CMP matches in the US. There is little doubt that the 20 inch barrel would be the best choice for all matches past 200 meters, but some of our courses of fire include CQB types of fire with ranges down to 25 meters. Times to fire are longer than those that seem to be required in something like 3 gun, but the accuracy demands are pretty stringent. I competed for many years with an issued 20 inch barrelled C7 and was just thinking of trying out the 18 inch tube.
