It is the task of our generation, yours and mine. But we build and defend not for our generation alone. We defend the foundations laid down by our fathers. We build a life for generations yet unborn.
We defend and we build a way of life, not for America alone, but for all mankind. Ours is a high duty, a noble task.---Franklin Delano Roosevelt May 26th, 1940.
They "outsourced" to a very good company but way overpriced when you can get a Brownell's for less than 1K.

I do not care to buy one of them as I prefer to build my own.

Thank you. The Colt M16A1 Reissue is based on the early 1967-1970 M16A1. That is the reason they provide the 3-prong and A1 FHs. The SP1 (originally released in 1963)is based on the Model 602 as the XM16E1 and M16A1 did not exist at the time. The XM16E1 did not come about until early 1964 and the M16A1 in Feb. 1967.

I think it is a great rifle. Comparing it with an SP1 that I have I actually consider it a better rifle as far as fit and finish are considered.
I have some detailed photos and comments on my website here: https://thecoltar15resource.com/colt...issue-crm16a1/
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
I looked at the website. Very cool.
And I agree about the handguards. My Brownell M16A1 has handguards that look identical to a pair of new in wrap SP1 ones I have, from the outside, but appear to be made of better less brittle stuff. I was going to replace the Brownell ones with the NOS Colt ones, but now I'm not going to bother.
Seems as though both rifles go a very long way to replicate the original. So cool.
