    This thread was amusing.

I watched Star Wars for the first time at age 11, a few years before the prequels.

I absolutely loved and still love Timothy Zahn’s trilogy and later duology, as well as Michael Stackpole’s multiple contributions. I haven’t caught up with the current canon, having stopped after making it through every book of the Yuuzhan Vong story arc as well as spending far too much time in the Star Wars Technical Commentaries at theforce.net. So, I have limited thoughts.

Rogue One wasn’t too shabby besides the weird racist Asian bits.

But, Rey has to be someone. The lightsaber bit, using force persuasion with zero training, etc. That crap has to be explained. Other than that, all I ask is that we don’t end up with a fourth Death Star. That’d be a bit much.

I concur with the Kylo date rapist assessment. But I’m not sure I see Disney losing a princess to the dark side. Maybe a struggle once she finds out some weird secret past (though this possibility was fairly well discouraged in the last film).

I joked with a friend. What if there IS another Death Star, but it is the resistance building it from crystals recovered from the Death Star 2. It was leia’s Plan only activated after her death and it is being put into action by red eyed c3po.

I'm just gonna say the Thrawn Trilogy is what Eps 7-9 shoulda been--too bad the clone didn't make it at the end of Vision, he woulda been a HUGE help against the Vong. (Call me names as you like, but before the New Jedi arc I had *all* of the novels, until the magic died along with Chewie.)

So, this really isn't a speculation thread...

    Actually......I like that. I do.

The Rebellion has become the thing they fought against. It would be a brilliant twist.

What I like about Star Wars is that the whole Empire = Nazis/Rebellion = Plucky Do-Gooders is a gross over simplification of a galaxy that is essentially space Yugoslavia with warring factions, religions, tribes, races, etc.

Thats why I wish they hadnt special editioned this big pan galactic celebration with Palpatine's death as surely he had loyal factions and worlds.

Its a grungy world where anybody can be a hero or villain.

Unlike Star Trek which promotes space Communism.

I wish Carrie Fisher hadn't died because we saw Leia as a spunky twentysomething who was feisty. I wanted to see more of Old Leia who had a failed marriage, a problem son, a monarchy in shambles, and in charge of a decrepit Rebellion that has been engaged in an overdrawn insurgency. She's old, tired, disgusted, and disillusioned. Her last "F You, Empire" is a secret repurposed Death Star of her own. C 3P0 essentially her dead man switch. In a way, she herself has become a warlord not unlike some African Dictator.
This is not the lithe brunette wearing oversized ATACS on Endor or a sexy space bikini. She's tired, haggard, and probably retreats to her quarters to drink hard liquor and cry into her pillow. You want Feminism? There you go. You are the queen, but you are alone with the lives of untold multitudes on your shoulders and a lot of them are going to die regardless of what you do.

And FWIW, as an aside....that's the one part of TLJ I liked...Luke's almost bitter, sarcastic and biting "See ya around, kid" Like from a 90s B movie. People felt let down, but that was the Luke that had just had it with the whole affair.

Obiwan was the big Jedi Council guy who died with piety and quiet dignity. Luke was back to being for a minute the guy from ESB who had seen it all before.

Do ya one better, Fly: The Resistance gets its own DS, does a tit-for-tat "you destroyed our capital now we destroy yours" and a long Galactic Cold War settles in until everybody realizes "ya know what, this shit ain't worth it and there are bigger threats out in the Unknown." Be cool if they somehow managed to bring Thrawn in as the guy who has the epiphany and brokers a deal, since he was the smartest guy on the Imp roster.

A Galactic Cold War would be too much like peace.

I see the SW universe as having achieved eons ago what Star Trek deems their continuing mission.

All that exists has been discovered. Its a huge, miscegnated world filled with unironic pride and prejudice.

Because there is no mystery, people fight.
It doesnt matter over what. It is accepted that there is a supernatural element.
In a way, Star Wars is so punk rock because there really isnt a definitive right or wrong. Dying isn't the worst thing that can happen, and even in times of peace, there is war.

The closest you can get to a quiet life is a rock in the middle of nowhere.

At this point I would be cool if the God Emperor of Dune waltzed in, went ape shit over droids and ship computers calculating hyperdrive jumps, and a galaxy far, far away got worried about if the spice would flow.

I am still a little confused, though. I thought ROTJ was the end of the Empire?

I was thinking actually Thanos comes in...
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.
