    True but correct me if I’m wrong but the leadership of colt was a proponent of the ban even before it came into being yes?

    Quite likely. It isn't unusual for anti 2nd Amendment initiatives to be backed by firearms manufacturers. Ruger's opposition to standard capacity magazines and concealable handguns comes to mind immediately.

    Colt would cut off NFA dealers for selling M16's to private citizens and was big in to smart guns, so nothing would be a surprise.
