I appreciate the advice. I went with a Dead Air Nomad 30 and filled out the paperwork, then added a Turbo K as they are cheap. My dealer treats me right so I thought in for one, why not two.

Rex just released their line of tubeless suppressors using "universal" 1.375"-24 (OMEGA) threading.

Their previous models put up some outstanding dB numbers at the muzzle.

5.6" and 12.1 Oz makes these pretty interesting, especially for $450.

Rex's testing says the 224 bore meters 136 dB on a 10.5" 556.

Assuming a brake mount, that could drop 1 or 2 dB.

They say the baffles are vented and the blow back is not too bad.

They seem interesting in a very utilitarian sort of way with the tubeless construction and raw finish, I'd prefer PVD or something, but who gives a shit about looks. I'd give one a shot with a Q Plan B, if I could find any good info on them.

Well, I ordered a short 6.5mm model. Another year of purgatory. I may also get a long .30 model later, funds allowing.

Brings up a Q I have always had and one reason I don't have a can, prices always seemed wildly high for what they are: a metallic cylinder with some metal baffling in it. Seems like they should be a few hundred all day. $ to the gubment, then 1k or more for a metal cylinder that's approx cost of the rifles it's going on has always stuck in my craw. Are the costs due to NFA status? Other? Under "cuz they can"? Am I missing something?

That sounds as reasonable anything but I also suspect while demand and producers have grown in the past few years or so, prices seem to stay high under the "cuz they can" thing and maybe competition is starting arise where we are now seeing them in the 400-500 range. That's my guess anyway.

Adjusted for inflation, it would cost around $235.

It's fair to say the current models are a little more high tech and perform better.

Suppressors in the $350-450 range are a relatively good value.

Yes, the tax is criminal.

But at the end of the day, you pay to play and suppressors are awesome.
