Personal Choice more than anything. I have 2 6920's, one still has the bird cage on it. The so called "upgrades" just add length to the weapon.
The great thing about the Vortex and The Blackout are they don't use peel washers or crush washers. It gives it a cleaner look but I wouldn't call it a worthwhile upgrade.

Also if your not going to use NV equipment, and do not need to hide your flash signature, then you really don't need this unless you like the looks. I kind of like it, so I already bought one vortex. Now that I see the AAC version.. kind of like it more. Doh.
The A2 is a pretty effective FH for $8.00.
Unless you are using some type of QD silencer, there is no reason to remove an A2 hider from a carbine or rifle.
I could see a vortex, blackout, or some other upgrade on a shorty as there is more muzzle blast.

one oft-overlooked criteria for flash hiders is how quickly you can clear the mud out of them.
the creekside tactical rifle match this past weekend reminded quite a few folks, myself included
Let us also not forget that the US Military has found that the Vortex actually improves accuracy (much like a suppressor does). I imagine that the AAC has similar capabilities.

Silvers claims it has no impact on accuracy. So you know he's not going to miss an opportunity to spin something like that if it were possible.![]()
