    I think you’re thinking of Aluma-Hyde from Brownells, which is is spray-on coating. Aluminum Black is not paint, it colors the aluminum through chemical reaction. It works pretty well for touch up, if prep and application is done right.

    Also works really well to clean up shiny spots, like after torqueing and staking a castle nut. Makes the job look "finished".

    I like the rust protection it gives but the smell is ****ing gnarly. I've yet to see AR15 steel components rust, maybe those Navy seal dudes have.

    Left untreated, I've seen cold blue rust parts!
