And yes they make a great product. I have Patrol 3XL and a bunch of their lowers, BCG and other parts. Everything is top notch.

Well that's just win all over. I trusted him implicitly as an SME, and so did they apparently.

Any barrel under 16" must pinned and welded with an appropriate length MD or NFA applies. Personally, I'd recommend you stick with a 16" unless you know exactly what you want, it offers more flexibility down the road.

Can't speak to the Sionics BCG---haven't tried it but I run all BCM's for prob the last 8 years, they have run to perfection. They are pricey, heavy duty suckers, but I think they are worth it.

Agree with you on configuring the A5 version of the lower at G&R, I didn't realize they had a separate link to be able to select an A5 RE. Will, you want an A5 if you go this route. I won't bother blathering on about all the background, but trust me: an A5 receiver extension, and VLTOR A5 buffer tube, is the way to go on your lower.

^This--spot on. If you don't get in/out of vehicles or clear houses, IMHO you do not really 'need' an SBR or 14.5" rifle. And as stated, a 14.5 is kind of a pain. Stick with 16"--I do on all my rifles.

Sourcing your own parts and putting them together yourself is enjoyable and rewarding. Plus you will learn more about the platform with each new build. Every holiday you'll find most of the quality components on sale.

Ah right, so the total length is 16 and can't be altered. My Colt is such a set up and a pinned 14.5'. 16" makes more sense for reasons you indicate.

    Build Me An AR Boys!

My go to carbine is a 14.5” ELW-F BCM rifle with a pinned BCM Comp. That said when it came time to purchase a carbine to set aside for my daughter I went with Sionics. I purchased a 16” Patrol III upper and a blem lower separately. When I called to ask a few questions about their MLOK rails, they transferred me to the back shop to talk to one of the guys actually building the guns. He went and got the rail I had questions about and was more than happy to discuss the details on it. Highly recommend them. I think they offer an M4c discount as well.

This is what I've been recommending to my friends that want to "build" but do not have the special tools and knowledge to do it right.

    Start with this upper...http://sionicsweaponsystems.com/stor...hree-e-ur.html
choose between 13" or 15" handguard, barrel (I really like my LW) and Np3 BCG. If you want an ambi-CH that is a solid deal on a Radian.

    Buy a BCM A5 RE...
    https://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-...mediate-re.htm

and send it SIONICS and have them put it on their gutless lower...
    http://sionicsweaponsystems.com/stor...ifle-zero.html

This lower will come with all the "special" install done all you have to do is choose your desired controls and furniture. Get a Sprinco green spring and a A5H2 buffer, I use Forward Controls on most of my builds and Roger sells those components, so I usually just get them from him.

Sights/optic & sling of choice, lots of mags, lots of ammo and you're GTG with a serious badass shooter..
