    Depends on weight.
Heavier, more accurate - colt socom upper
    Lighter, bcm lw.

Midweight- bcm, sionics, centurion all have options.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed and after 10 years, still know there's lots of people here far better informed about this topic then I am. I know my lane, ARs are not one of them.

Weight is not a primary concern compared to durability, reliability, etc.

Go here, and configure a BCM lower the way you want it (trigger, etc.):

Add a BCM ELW 14.5 upper (get the BCM BCG with it):

This is my next and quite possibly my final upper. I'd get w/o a BCG and put a SIONICS Np3 BCG in it.

But for the lower I'd go with an A5.

Option B (because closer to your budget): get a complete Sionics rifle, with the LW barrel and their 2-stage Schmid trigger. If I wasn't getting BCM stuff, I'd try Sionics next because I'm so impressed with their LPK, their trigger, and the feedback they have gotten from their LE contracts as well as their affiliation with IraqGuns prior to him passing away. I'm not sure if you could call them to customize this to a 14.5 with a pinned FH, someone else here might know or could call.

If you would consider a pistol lower and shorter barrel, my vote would be..

BCM lower (with or without A5)

    SB Tactical SBA4 brace

    BCM stripped upper

    BCM QRF 10" rail

BCM BCG or LMT Enhanced BCG

Centurion Arms 12.5" carbine barrel with the pinned gas block option

If you are dead set on the 14.5" then I'd keep the parts list mostly the same but swap the 12.5" Centurion barrel for a 14.5" midlength Centurion barrel, and swap the 10" QRF for a 12" QRF rail.

Of course, you could just order any of the above mentioned setups straight from BCM if you don't see the need for the Centurion barrel.

Or order a similar setup from Centurion Arms with a C4 rail.

I think any of the above would get you close to your price point.

I also am not a builder, but went this route, plain Jane with the standard trigger (Schmidt Nickel Teflon) and MBUS Pro sights. The Patrol 3E LW is excellent and extremely lightweight and handy. Highly recommended.

I didn't know about that! If he said they were GTG, then they're GTG no doubt. Seems like a lot of rifles for the $.

SIONICS does not do pinned and welded barrels.
