I would like to see the first option, provided the DOJ investigates everyone, arrest everyone up to an including obama.
By resting with out using the second option, we limit the chance of turning these traitors into victims which would taint the jury pool and then they don't go to prison for years.
My fear is the Republicans' in the Senate will wimp out.
But it sounds like the President wants to go with the second option.
I've wrestled with this exact equation and came to the same conclusion, for two reasons. One, I honestly don't think McConnell has the stones to allow aggressive cross-examination of every witness they'd need to call, including Schiff and Pelosi. Second, right now Trump is actually the underdog. The left and right are entrenched, but the middle who can't decide what to eat every day can see this was a completely lopsided process. If they aggressively go after the conspirators, it could shift the public polling back to the Democrats, which we don't want.
Trump needs to be convinced that resting with no defense is best. He's automatically going to win in the Senate and he needs to let the Senate Republicans do their job. He needs to let Barr and Durham do the work of exonerating him. All he needs from the Senate to get back to the people's work, is a not guilty vote.
What if this whole crusade's a charade?
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine…
