The DEms will next say that the Senate is tainted and we can't have them try the case, so we need to send it to the Supreme court and, of course, the Trump picks need to recuse themselves.

Don't laugh, you know some low info Progressive is thinking it. At the very least trying to get enough GOP senate members to recuse themselves so that they can get 2/3 of the voting senators (not 2/3 of the Senate) to vote for impeachment...

Look back at all the Electoral College shenanigans and craziness that went on, you think anything is out of their ability to make it up?

And the campaign rally cry is that if teh DEMs controlled the senate, they would have been able to impeach because they could have burned through the GOP cover up....

If TRump wins in 2020 and loses the senate and the dems keep the House, impeachment will become a revolving door.

Especially since they've begun pushing the narrative that the Senate is "undemocratic" and needs to either be abolished or modified so that representation is based on population like the House.

The ComDems have already started the narrative that next year’s presidential election is illegitimate because President Trump used Ukraine to interfere. The ComDems have become so poisonous to our country that I think the damage they have done is irreversible. I don’t believe the divide they created among the citizens of this country can be fixed. I hope I am wrong.

Mr Schumer, a New York senator, made the appeal for witnesses in a letter to Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell on Sunday.

In addition to Mr Mulvaney and Mr Bolton - a former National Security Adviser - he also called for Robert Blair, a top aide to Mr Mulvaney, and budget official Michael Duffey to give testimony at the expected Senate trial.

"All four of these witnesses were asked to testify in the House impeachment inquiry but did not appear," the letter says.

Mr Schumer said the trial must be one "that not only hears all the evidence and adjudicates the case fairly; it must also pass the fairness test with the American people".
