    Optics and Mounts weight thread

Not sure if this interests others, but now that I got a kitchen scale that verifies correct weight, I’ve taken to checking what optics weigh in various mounts (or separately, if I thought of ahead). All have batteries installed.

Not seen in the picture is another scale that was substantially off. I confirmed this was correct using multiple coins.

Vortex PST 1-4x in GG&G Accucam QD mount, plus objective and eye Butler creek caps and Lone Star cat tail lever

    24.1 oz

Vortex PST 1-6x in Midwest Industries QD 1.4” offset mount, plus Vortex Defender objective cap and Vortex cat tail lever

    32.4 oz

Aimpoint CompM3 in Daniel Defense 30mm Optics Mount (Single Ring) with Aimpoint see-through caps

    10.8 oz

Very helpful. Do you have an Aimpoint micro in a QD mount? I loved the Viper 1-6 but the weight was killer for me so I switched to a T2 in an ADM. I would really like another LPVO but weight is a major factor for me.

Thanks for this thread. I’m running the fixed 4x and considering going to a LPVO on my 16”. I’ll either stick with the acog or or rethink my heavy centurion rail.

Great thread! It's no wonder some optics feel relatively heavy. They are! Several of the LPVOs, with mount, are around two pounds.

Das iz no BS! My Vortex Razor 1-6 Gen 2, Non-E comes in at 25.5 oz. paired with a BOBRO 30mm Extended QD mount tops out at 33 oz. Weight isn't a factor for me since I'm usually proned out or on a bench with the Noveske.

    On a lighter note, Aimpoint Micro H-1 3.5oz. + BOBRO Micro QD 1/3 Co-witness mount 3.9oz.

Yes. Both the PST and Razor are pigs...though that Scalarworks mount helped trim a bit off to get it under 2#.
