Of course--can't have anyone contradicting the received 'scientific' consensus, because well, that would cause people to lose faith in the absolute reliability of nutrition science.
Uhhh....that ship sailed a long time ago.
Remember the ongoing egg debacle over the last 50 years or so? Eggs good. Eggs bad. Eggs good. OK, bad again.
The dudes pushing the plant-based diets...yeah. Not like THEY have an agenda either.
To me it's not that complicated (excepting special-case health issues that impact your diet): eat a balanced diet...including meat.
I like the Mediterranean diet which allows for red meat but you keep it balanced with other protein sources including fish/poultry. There is plenty of 'scientific' evidence backing that diet, in fact it's one of the best-supported general diets out there.
I haven't lost all faith in nutrition science, but a lot more skeptical these days when somebody announces some allegedly radical new finding that suggests the common stuff most people have been eating for the last 5000 years must be bad for you.
