Not a flash hider. Not even close. If going p/w, it's probably best to go A2X or a compatible suppressor mount.

So I’m doing a BCM 14.5 enhanced medium weight fluted upper with an MCMR on a BCM lower with an A5 buffer.[/QUOTE

I have the factory pin and weld 14.5 BCM rifle. The BCM mod comp flash hider is horrible. It’s obnoxious and blows dust and debris around when shooting in low positions. Just beware if getting the one pinned and welded from the factory. Might be further ahead to get a nonwelded upper and pick your own muzzle device.

Not to drift but can someone explain to me why a warcomp is “better”?

What do you mean by better? The idea of the warcomp is it both acts as a compensator and flash hider as well as a suppressor mount.

Well I understand that but if you are just using a can why bother?
It seems like it checks off boxes but I just want to know if it is a real advantage or more dragon chasing.

If it’s not any more expensive and compatible with SF cans I suppose it is a non-issue

Or am I thinking about the old battle comp?

The Warcomp does work fairly well for “recoil” control, but I still believe body mechanics trumps all else with regard to this. As for flash, under NODs and on a 14.5”, it’s no worse than an A2. To be fair, I don’t think about that sort of thing when shooting, though, and nothing stands out in my memory.

I have only used the 3 prong, not the closed tine version.

If I weren’t mounting a suppressor, I would just get a Vortex FH and move on.
