Have you ever had the chance to fire a US Marked Colt Model P Single Action Army built in 1877 with black powder loaded cartridges? It is quite the experience with that distinctive "Boom" and a cloud of smoke.

I have indeed. My late father was an enthusiastic black powder shooter, with a keen interest in modern copies of 19th Century US military small arms.

The experience was exactly as you described, and I enjoyed it, capitally.

Not so much "toys" per se. I consider toys to be expendable(trucks, bikes,glocks, ARs etc.)newer, better ones made everyday. C&R is an extravagance with some resale prospects. Few of lifes extravagances and minor investments are still basically viable weapons.

For HD or CW2... pretty far from ideal. ....But if its Aliens with force fields and laser beams, Im leaving the house with a mauser and a few cloth bandoleers and going out with some panache

I dont get the general angst lately over "unnecessary" firearms or having to establish a defined purpose for every possession. As if In 20 years theyll be calling anyone with more than 50 things a "hoarder"... as they try to squeeze us all into our new socialistically perfected and equal housing units.

Its not as if guns eat you out if house and home or annoy you with dumb questions or shit on the rug. They are things. That you wanted at one time. If you no longer want them or cant keep them, just sell them. Its quite simple. No need to visit with shamans, just the LGS.

Pre 9/11 wasn't magical, sorry FF, I get what you mean, but like, 20/20 bro, Bill was a total POS and every American was a total lemming. SWAT was at the height of fanboy stupid crap, like "oh you're too dumb to know how an AR could work, you get this 25 year old Winchester pump gun." There were PDs carrying 38s in the 90s man. That's just lame. Up there with dudes rocking 1911s today. /policerantoff (full disclosure, I was I literal child when 9/11 happened, so I have no frame of reference).

I like to talk about the illusion of the "good old days" and seriously, I can talk about ARs and psilocybin being good for people to my liberal friends and family. I feel like theres hope.

I guess my harsh truth is that relationships are fleeting. People come and go at random. Be it people moving or death or whatever. We grow apart. That said, I think that the human connected is what life is about. Material objects cannot replace that.

I used to think the old days were great and some things were, memories of Lebanon 1981-83 are great.

I used to think the older cars were great and then the neighbor of a friend let me drive his restored 1970 something Chevelle SS. Brakes were terrible, handling and speed could be beat by BMW M5.

So some things are best left in the past.

Other things like custom built browning Hi Powers are timeless.
