Jeez, you guys had a lot more enjoyable childhoods than I did I guess. My life honestly gets better every year. My health not so much, stupid 50s.

I think most of us are also enjoying are adult years. But it's kinda like listening to music from your formative years, it's enjoyable and nostalgia is fine so long as it doesn't prevent you from being an adult or living your life that you have now.

One of the things I really dig about being back in Iowa is I will be just walking someplace or eating someplace and I realize "my dad did this back in the 60s or my grandfather did this back in the 30s." It makes walking trails just a little more special.

-When you reach an age where you are too old to ever die young again; you realize how small and meaningless everything actually is. There is no magic in the world.

-Contrariwise, the few things of any worth mean the utter world

-Some of the most brutal dictators and tyrants valued youth and passion far more than any politician we have today who are more than happy making aged out of the young and keeping them in debt

-Every Pessimist is only a failed and used Optimist

-I don’t miss cigarettes but I do miss the act of smoking

-Do you know the difference between persistence and stubbornness? Me neither.

-Lawrence Welk was more musically relevant than Motorhead. I don’t know how I feel about that.

-Remember playing Baseball as a boy? You’ll never be that young or innocent again

    -We all outlive our heroes

    Existentialism > Nihilism

It all might not mean anything, but that doesn't mean you cannot provide your own meaning.

It might be a road to nowhere, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the ride.

I might not be 15 anymore but I still love pepperoni pizza, boobies and kraftwerk as much as I ever did.

My heroes are still Bruce Lee, Greg Boyington and Jack Weaver.

Sure. Persistence is when the odds are against you but you keep going because the destination is worth the battle to get to.
Stubbornness is when you keep going after any chance for gain or a positive outcome has long past, but you either don't have a choice, or are just going on to make a point. You know, like that crappy song: "He's going the distance..."

There are really just two options:
Die young and leave a good looking corpse (the James Dean method).
Live long enough to be a nuisance to your kids and grand kids (the Kirk Douglas approach).

I personally feel that I’m too old for option 1 but my wife assures me it’s totally possible if done within the next couple of years.

If we are talking harsh truths - go ahead and de-fund the police. I am sufficiently armed and live in a low population/low crime area. With no police, the second bunch of criminals that may decide to pay us a visit will be discouraged by the first hanging from lamp posts.

We will have federal police you say? Please... The gender fluid weirdos that Senile Joe and the Ho would put in charge will be too busy infighting to actually bother with my neighborhood.
