Daniel defense RIS II vs FSP RIS II

Thinking about doing a block II upper since I have a some parts laying around. Won’t be 100% correct since I have a normal m4 14.5 colt barrel. I’ll be putting a warcomp on it for the pin and weld job. I know some ODA’s have them and 2/75 had some. Kind of been leaning towards doing the FSP one, it’s a hair lighter. Probably would run a Eotech in it. Kind of like the slick rails but I don’t know. Oh mighty internet commandos tell me what I should blow my money on.

Not gonna pretend to be an expert, but one simple question: Magnified or Non-Magnified optics?

This is just my personal preference, but if I'm using an RDS, holo or unmagnified (1x) prism, I like fixed with co-witness--less transition time having to deploy the BUIS then reacquire sight picture, just adjust and drive on. Magnified, I've never used to have any clue. So this would mean if you're using an LPVO or scope regular, RDS/holo go FSP. "Horses for courses."

Here is the deal, on a barrel with the FSB, to install the FSP RIS II, you still have to remove the FSB. If you are going to do this, you may as well go ahead and get the DD RIS II, a DD Mk12 low profile gas block, and install them. You can then have the Warcomp pinned and welded. BTW, there are M4 SOPMOD Block IIs in addition to the M4A1 SOPMOD Block IIs. You can build a M4 SOPMOD Block II clone with the barrel you have.

Why? Working on an FSB barrel isn’t that hard.

But if you are going to go down that road it costs about the same to have the GB shaved down as it is to buy a new GB, but you can retain the pinned benefits.

FSB is always my preference. I've broken buis sights and ruined rails.

I do have some lo pro gas block guns, but my go to stuff is FSB all the way.
