So does microbest make AR-10 bolts? (I need one)

Unless its changed, Toolcraft only makes carriers for mil contract.

I've been pleased with toolcraft bcg in 5.56 and grendel, but toolcraft will tell you they OEM the bolts.

I'll probably go with their ar-10 bcg as well unless there is another sweetspot to consider. Most appear to be 9310 bolts.

The pic at PA from the link shows this BCG to have a 9310 steel instead of C158 bolt.

    As others have referenced:

I’m sure the item is fine, but one would think they could match pictures and descriptions.

They sell both. The one I got says 158 but it doesn't say MPI or HPT.

Toolcraft makes bolts in 158 and 9310 depending on what customer wants.

I take it that 9310 is a newer alloy?

Started using 9310 for AR/M4 bolts around 2012.
Since the creation of Carpenter 158, the metals industry has continued to innovate, creating new blends of steels. 9310 is a AISI standard grade of tool steel that makes it about ~7% stronger than "mil-spec" Carpenter 158 steels, when appropriately treated. Its commonly used in the aerospace industry where toughness, impact strength, and solid wear characteristics are required.
Early on there were some initial hiccups with the treating process making too brittle but thats been corrected.

I hate to sound like a naysayer, but can they really do all that for $69?

Maybe I should pick up one as a spare ?

I vote no. I've seen too many issues with out of spec parts from TC to trust them anymore. All those PSA premium bcg's with no staking, out of spec on headspace, getting shipped to customers, its just not worth it. I'm sure other distributors are trying to keep up with PSA by selling the same thing. Also, I have a TC that causes excessive recoil in my rifles, TC says not possible, my shoulder says otherwise. Microbest, from Sionics, Centurion, SOLGW, DD have all been flawless and can be found for around $120.
