    Help with sling attachments

I'm new to the ar world. I have magpul mlok SL furniture and I need some sling attachment advice from experienced users.

Yesterday, with the use of paracord slotted through the mlok holes I figured out that I like the sling at the back of the handguard on the left side. And for the buttstock I like it mounted on the right hand side where the QD is located.

I cannot decided, nor do I have experience with any QD, Paraclip, or Mash hook attachment. I only have experience with hunting rifle sling mounts.

What I liked about the loose paracord was that the sling fell out of the way and/or moved with me as I brought it to shoulder. I hate to say it, but the paracord on the rear stock was really comfortable. I can't use it on the foregrip because it's touching the barrel and I suspect it will melt.

So for the rear I am thinking either maglok QDM, or the paraclip adapter with either a paraclip or mashhook. I am uncertain how either of those will perform on the buttstock. Will the device get in the way? How dependable is a QD? Will the mashook even fit in the paraclip adapter?

On the handguard I was considering the maglok GI sling mount just to keep it simple, but I liked the looseness of the paracord and how it moved as the gun was raised and lowered. So now I'm looking at the mlok paraclip mount and (again) either the paraclip or mashhook.

I'm not certain if the mashhook is compatible with the paraclip mount -- will it even fit or move freely enough?. And I'm not certain how secure the paraclip or QD is. So any experience and advice is welcome!

These are the items I am thinking of:
    For the handguard:
(photo on the page is pretty much were I will be mounting it) Paraclip mount

    GI swivel

    Paraclip

    Mash Hook

    For the buttstock:
    Paraclip adapter
    https://www.opticsplanet.com/magpul-...p-adapter.html

    Magpul QDM
    https://www.opticsplanet.com/magpul-...ng-swivel.html

Or just use paracord for the rear.

Is there anything else I should consider? How much swivel is on the QD mounts?

    Thanks again!

Some QDs have anti-rotation built in. I think Magpul’s and BCM’s do, it should say in the product description. Does your stock already have a QD cup attached?

I would get the Magpul or similar QD for the buttstock and the Paraclip Mount and Clip for the fore end.

You don’t need the GI swivel, mash hook or Para Clip for the stock, unless that’s what you want.
    I don’t like mash hooks.
And I only like having 1 QD per sling, if any.
And if you like using your set up with para cord go to it, just make sure your tie good knots. Remember the rule with knots is if you don’t know how to tie a knot, tie lots.

I think this might be of interest:

Prusik/Klemheist hitches can be used on the forearm with little chance of moving(properties that are why they are used to climb ropes).

If you don't want a bulky knot, get some nylon upholstery thread and stitch your para cord ends together.

And for sure, search for more of Ned Christianson's posts on rigging up slings

For your MOE-SL handgurd, you need this.

    https://www.magpul.com/products/m-lo...uctColor=VO343

You can then use either of these.

If you are going to use the Paraclip sling adapter, you can use this.

*Note: All of these can be used with the QD socket in the stock.

You also have the option of a paracord crimp. Something along this line. http://www.alpharubicon.com/leo/secu...rdpyrotech.htm

I prefer a qc at the rear of the hand guard so i got the Magpul one and drilled two holes for the screws, put the nuts on backwards and a larger hole in the middle for qc clearance. Works good.
