For Lightweight I would go BCM's KMR or MCMR. If you're looking for a bombproof rail I would go with a KAC URX4. Geissele is good middle of the road and have handguards in different thicknesses. I swapped the rail on my MK18 to a Geissele MK8. I am very happy with it but don't shoot that upper that much due to length.

I have a boatload of different ALG Defense rails on builds, I like their barrel nut and the way the rail attaches - simple.

If I'm giving the rifle away as a gift, or if someone wants to lowball an upper, I've used their budget rail, but those prices can be deceiving. Currently they are clearing them out at 1/2 price, a 10" for $40.00, well under $5.00 an inch. Problem is if you want to attach a BUIS, it costs you $20.00 for a co-witness rail piece (which are currently out of stock.

I noticed ALG have stopped listing some of their earlier rails. Plus they are out of stock on most of their accessory pieces for the earlier and budget rails. Wonder if that means they are going to quit making them?

I an a LaRue fanboi, but it frustrates me that they don't see fit to offer a 15in rail. I have a 6.5 Grendel Stealth Rifle and that barrel sticking out of that 13in tube destroys the aesthethics, IMO.

    I very much wish KAC made a 9.5” URX4.

I thought about that, but because the diagonal MLok slots are offset from the 3,6,9 slots, theres no way to cut it without having open ended slots at the end.

You may want to look at SLR handguards.
They have a few different variants but my preference is the ION Lite
I used the 10.7 MLOK on an 11.5 upper and it left space for a suppressor mount.

I’ve got an SLR Ion Lite 11.7” on a 12.5” and its working well so far, including use with a taper mount suppressor. About as long a handguard as I can use with that barrel with a can. SLR appears to specialize in that.

I'm partial to the Midwest Industries rail. Real partial. I found a set up I like, and started doing up all my ARs that way. Top to bottom. 14" .308, 11.3" .300 Blackout, 10.5" 5.56. All have a weapon light mounted on a Midwest Industries rail, the same Magpul grip, and Surefire Warcomp. Well, the SBR just has a regular flash suppressor. All newer builds have the Warcomp, including my Mauser scout rifle. The pistol would have the same VFG, and CTR stock, but for the stupid gun laws... I need to preserve it's "pistolness".

You know what I like best about most people?

    Their dogs.

I got the new handguard and the flash hider is just past the end. I’ll try it like it is for a while and see if anything needs to change.
