"Make no mistake, Virginia is a test. Unable to depose the president, they will proceed on a state-by-state basis to create the nation they long for. And disarming Americans is crucial for the Democrats as a first and necessary step, because an armed populace can say, “No!”

Will Virginians willingly give up their guns to the Democrats? Some might. After all, Virginia is proximate to D.C. and many will obey. Yet, many will not. Virginia will be the future, because the Democrats will brook no dissent. They will come heavy and hard and it won’t be long before there is gunfire, and someone is hurt or killed."
Virginia is ONLY blue because the Nova counties are so incredibly liberal. Even though the Richmond area is mostly Democrat, it's largely moderate to conservative Dem, from what I understand. The rest of the state is deep, deep red. Anyone in VA who would give up their gun probably already doesn't own one. Any attempts to confiscate I think will result in mass non-enforcement by most local sheriff's offices, if not open siding with the people and resisting state forces. One of the good things about VA is that county government is so strong and city and town government is weak; thus, county sheriff's offices, especially in the conservative areas, are the ONLY law enforcement agencies in many counties. No battles between liberal police chiefs and conservative sheriffs.

NoVA has been NYs hemorrhagic asshole for some time now. Plus it’s too close to DC.

    Nothing surprising

So the answer is to break up that big blue tumor between downsizing and dispersing, move the various departments' HQ's such that those who work there are blue drops in a red ocean rather than the concentrated mass of today. We're already seeing the bureaucrats revolt over moving Interior to Kansas City to be closer to the agriculture industry... me, I woulda put them in Iowa so that DOT could be moved to St. Louis as a major transportation hub. Energy should go to either Texas or Alaska, and Defense should be moved to Omaha for the same reason SAC Headquarters was there.

Where else would be logical moves to encourage the pencil-pushers to self-downsize and make those who remain see how their policies affect those they regulate?

My first thought was move EVERYTHING to Prudhoe Bay, but then Alaska would become a new Rotten Apple until the self-downsizing starts to pick up steam. That, and I wouldn't wish their company on the polar bears...

If voluntary downsizing is the end result, might I suggest McMurdo Station as a potential relocation site?

I like penguins more than polar bears. Diego Garcia could be good too...
