Ruger American compact, or Rem 700 youth if you can find one used.

We got my son a 700 youth in 708 and it is one of our favorite rifles. Even big men love to shoot it. Nowadays I would probably consider a 260 or creedmoor, but you can do much worse than the 708 and it's widely available in youth/mountain rifles.

Howa used to have some nice compact rifles, and they have a micro action available in Grendel which many people love as a super mild recoiling combination. I would pick Grendel over 7.62 x39, a bit more steam and shoots much flatter. The CZ micro actions are also available in Grendel.

I think the budget question has to be asked.

I have a compact Ruger American Rifle in .223 that is light, has a short stock, and low recoil but its not a great gun or a great hunting caliber.

A 6 lb Browning X-Bolt Micro Midas may be a nice choice or Weatherby Vanguard or Savage 11XP Youth.

I would guess that, as a lady, she won't outgrow the rifle like a boy would so maybe a nicer rifle is justified.

IMHO, caliber should be .243, 6.5 Creedmore, or .260.

How about a Howa youth rifle? Or if you want to build a rifle look at the Howa action and mcmillian a10 stock.

Be aware that COMBLOCk 7.62X39 ammo is VERY CORROSIVE. I have seen it eat through the chrome bore on a SKS. Commercial 7.672X39 should be much more accurate.

I put together a Ruger American in 300 Blackout for my 10 year old to hunt with this year. It is not the finest bolt rifle you will ever pick up but it is a great little gun for a youth hunter. Very happy with it and he loves it.

They are probably on par with the Ruger American as far as price goes, but maybe it can be had for less if you shop around.

The CZ or the Howa Mini-action. Can be had in 7.62X39 and 6.5 Grendel as well as .204 and .223. Get the Grendel and you have it all. And when she's all growed up..... YOU can inherit it :-)
