Kahr Arms M1SB Burst Fire

I purchased my M1SB in 2014 but didn't fire it for the first time until last month. Had multiple misfires, 2 and 3 round bursts and finally, a runaway gun (quite exciting but not legal or safe). I believe I'm not the only one who's had this issue.

I returned the gun to Kahr for repair and they sent it back within 2 weeks, no charge, even though the weapon was out of warranty. Put four mags through it and though the action was MUCH better, still had a few two round bursts. Kahr now has it again. Not sure they'll get it right and if they don't, who should I send it to? Suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

I would just ask for my money back. That sounds like a defective product.

Kahr should be able to fix it right. Its pretty basic in design. The down side is the FP spring is strong enough to slam fire the cartridge if, 1) the bolt has not cycled back far enough to hook up the FP onto the trigger sear, but far enough to strip a cartridge out of the mag. 2) the trigger disconector is not tripping the sear back into its up position, there for allowing the FP to move forward with the bolt onto a fresh round. The Tommy bolt face was designed for a fixed FP so even if the FP is protruding "while stripping out a fresh round", it will chamber the round cleanly and possible tap fire the round as the extractor clips over the chambered round. Mind you, this is typically "not" a unsafe malfunction as far as firing out of battery is concerned. The stiff extractor coupled with the 360 deg. cartridge supported bolt face pretty much ensures a non out of battery firing. Other wise, the FA units would have been blown out casing master pieces. How do I know all this you might ask? I was the AO West Hurley gunsmith 81-83 and built more than a couple 27's That said, I agree with RETRO, if a Fed sees it go full in your hands, it has the potential to destroy your life legally.

No issues. Kahr replaced most of the internals and the M1SB now shoots properly (and accurate, too).

Off topic, perchance were you ever a member at the Iannamico brothers' old joint? Dunno if MachineGunBoards.com is still up, but 20 years ago when I was seriously looking into Thompson collecting/cloning you would have been a valuable resource to the community as an insider SME. (Still have owning a Chicago model on my Bucket List...)

Hello Diamondback, I was not aware of machinegunboards.com but thanks for pointing it out since they might be able to help me locate some literature AO had sent out as a thank you to then (1982) current customers. It was a Valentines card with a picture of all of the AO employees in a group shot holding our wares of the production line. You never think about keeping something like that when you have a chance to grab a few!
