I have an STI Costa Comp 9mm, anyone know a good Smith to mill for an RME?
Edit: I jacked up my thread title, I meant an RMR.
Hello Fellow M4Carbiner's,
I'm thinking of having my STI milled to accept an RMR but I'm not sure who might be good to do the work. As you can imagine I don't want to send a $3500 pistol to just anyone for them hack it in their garage lol.
Who would you guys recommend? Money is not an object, but I would perfect to have my gun back and running without waiting 2 years for the work. Thanks everyone.

I don't have experience with them milling a 1911/2011, but ATEi is the gold standard for most types of gun. I'd start there, pretty sure they have the option on the site.

Going to probably need a plate to widen the frame for the reddot. Primary machine has done 2 of mine and they are fast and flawless. They have their own plate you can use without rear sight or go with trijicon. I have always got my slides back under the quoted lead times and with flawless cerakote application.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check them out.
Also I hadn't considered needing a plate, or even thought about keeping the rear site. I'll have to see what my options are. Thank you fellas.

I found a picture of a rmr milled with plate and stand alone rear sight but cant find a shop that will do it for me that way. There is a plate that incorporates the rear sight into the plate but puts it in front of the rmr and looks like it can be switched out with other options.

Joe Chambers plate is GTG, but slide isn’t done by him, but by “approved smiths” then plate installed.
Might touch base with Scott at Cajun Gunworks.
I’ve had nothing but good luck with him/them, they go the extra mile.

What about inquirng with STI about acquiring an additional slide already milled by them? Or will ATI mill yours?
