    Not a 14.5 inch, but I use a 11.5" ELW-F BCM barreled upper with a Saker-K almost exclusively.

Works great and even doing rapid drills / shooting, never had an issue.

Yeh maybe BCM will make a BFH medium tapered profile soon. Seems like it’d be the best of both worlds.

I wouldnít overthink the BFH thing. If itís available, Iíd buy it, but I wouldnít avoid that barrel just because itís not BFH.

I'd have to guess markm's post is probably the most accurate.
I donít really get this because a gov barrel is thin under the hand guard. Probably thinner then an ELW barrel. So how would a thicker barrel forward of the gas block help?

Thicker near the muzzle helps with bending moment around the muzzle.

But, overall performance is about balance.

Here is our 14.5" OPTIMUM MPC.

So with all the info on the table. If you could have one which would it be? Difference between the ELW and GOV is about 4oz. Is it really that noticeable for its downfalls?

ELW but as an FYI after having two BCM 11.5 ELW barrels accuracy was not awesome, 2 to 3 moa.
