    Would a 11.5 KAC SR15 "pistol" be redundant with if I already run a 14.5 KAC SR15

So I have a 14.5 KAC SR15 with a pinned and welded MAMS as I live in a state where we can't have NFA items. I have been thinking of adding a 11.5 inch SR15 "pistol" as well. I will NOT be running the 11.5 suppressed as I can not have suppressors in my state, so My only concern is would the 11.5 be redundant with the 14.5 already being used as my main rifle for training/classes, HD, ect? The 11.5 would be ideal with a suppressor, but without the suppressor I worry It will be too similar to the 14.5 inch gun. I also want to do a SR25 with a Nightforce ATACR 1-8. I'm debating if I should just focus on the SR25 Project and forget about the 11.5 SR15. I know some people will say jest get allllll the guns. But by the time I set up a 11.5 with an optic, light ect. it will be a good amount of money. I don't mind spending the money if I'm going to use the rifle... I mean pistol... But I don't want to dump all the money in to something that I don't get a good amount of use out of. Thoughts?

I'm in the exact same boat, and have been wrestling with where to spend my dwindling money. There's not much a 10.5 or 11.5 pistol can do that a 14.5 can't unless you're doing entries or dedicated vehicle work. But they are damn sexy, and so light and well balanced....

The struggle is real with these first world problems lol If I could run the 11.5 suppressed, it would be a no brainer...

An 11.5" with a Law folder makes a fantastic backpack pistol. I travel a fair bit all over my home state and take mine with me every trip I take.

If it were me, I’d get the 11.5 and set it up as a CQB pistol. Aim point or EOTech red dot and a light that puts out more of a flood than a spot. Flash hider only, no comp or brake.

Then set up your SR 25 as you said with an 8x optic and deem it’s use for 200-400m and beyond stuff. It will outshine the CQB pistol at 100m ranges as well.

Ditch the 14.5 to help fund the pair.

In short, if only keeping one gun, keep the 14.5. If wanting two, do 11.5 and the 7.62 24”. Once you have those as book ends I’ll bet you see the 14.5 getting very little use.

    But I’m contrary to all this myself. I have a 16” with 4x, 11.5 with T1 and a 9” 300BO with XPS.

    I have a Mod 2 14.5 and 11.5. After my can cleared, I just stuck with 11.5. If I couldn't have a can, I would go 14.5. I have 2 11.5 now.

This is kind how I'm feeling. The can makes the 11.5 so much more appealing.

All depends on what you are trying to accomplish. That 14.5 you have is handy, you’ve vetted it with rounds, and it’s already paid for. If your looking for an excuse to buy something new, sure. Otherwise that 14.5 is a good general purpose one size fits all.

The 11.5 is fun and handy for tight spaces. With an omega on the front it matches my 16”. With a law adapter they fit into interesting spots.

My 14.5 and 16” are both smoother vs the 11.5 if no cans are involved.

The 14.5 is very well balanced and with a 13” rail has plenty of room for lights/ laser boxes, very grips etc and doesn’t feel crowded. My pref size for sure.

If your 14.5 is a mod 2 and you want to consider a trade for a 11.5 mod 2, let me know

I would get it, and wouldn't consider it redundant at all.
