    Got a NOS Colt A1 upper before it was a popular thing, and added it to a NoDak lower. Shoots great, and it really shook me up when I first held it when finished. And I never had to run thru' the jungle with the one the Gummint gave me in 1970; can't imagine how it would feel to a guy who took it in harm's way. Either way, we were young men then.

    Yeah, love how light and simple the A1s (or even plain M16 as I had in basic) are. Pick up a Garand and then an AR...not hard to see what Stoner was doing.

    it was my pleasure. my dad always said he liked his M-16, and did carry one in the jungles of Vietnam. he did, however, prefer the M-14. while operating in open country, he was what we would call today, a designated marksman, and used the M-14 often. I wish I had a picture of him holding one of those.
