Never had an FAL but I've had the others.
For reliability and accuracy with irons or RDS, G3 style.
Since the OP mentioned a scope and accuracy, no question, AR in .308 or similar caliber. AR not an option? I'd go with the G3. Unlike the M1A the scope mounts are more likely to hold zero and accuracy / zero isnt so influenced by the stock. Plus G3 mags are cheaper and they eat cheap ammo if that's all you have. Biggest downside is the G3 trigger is inferior to the M1A's. The LOP is also very long but if you're firing prone or from a bench no problem.
M1A vs G3 with irons or RDS would be a tougher choice.

I have the FAL and the M1A both are great.
The M16/AR15 has been the service rifle of our country since the early 60's so IMO it should be expected. In my view we would be lucky to have a generation familiar with one platform rather than none. As we all know there are many who take a dim view of any familiarity with firearms.
I see those as separate issues. Men who proclaim skill at arms should be Warriors, not one gun wonders.
