Two year old thread but thought it would be worthwhile to post a link to almost exactly what he is looking for with the exception of a 1/9 twist instead of 1/7.

Cool, I backordered one. They offer a military discount of 20% if you ask.

Later production C8s were fitted with a Picatinny-type rail on top of the receiver for attachment BUISs or for mounting a detachable carrying handle like the Colt M4s.

Nice looking rifle, what would be the same but with an A2 upper rear sight, but still with a 14.5 pencil barrel? Does it exist?
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

The Model 727 is generally known for having the 14.5” stepped barrel profile that was a precursor and almost identical to the true M4 profile, however there are those who claim that some *very* early production Model 727s had 14.5” pencil barrels, and photos exist that appear to depict carbines with A2 upper receivers and 14.5” pencil barrels. But whether or not those are actually factory original guns or isn’t entirely clear. So the “pencil barreled R0727” is mostly anecdotal.
Ultimately when it comes to the 700 series carbines, the only rule is that there are no rules.
