Skinny 6 Hole Retro Hand Guards on an M4 Profile barrel?

Will the retro 1960's skinny hand guards fit on a M4 Profile barrel? I know the double heat shield oval current hand guard are the norm, but I am trying to set up a 6920 for my wife and she is wanting the smaller old style hand guards for her smaller hands. What about on a heavy barrel profile as well?

Probably a dumb question, but I have not run across it before.

I would think so. Many of the AR manufacturers such as Smith use the smaller handguards, not the M4 type. You should be able to get a pair of takeoffs on ebay or somewhere, and try them out .

I didn't know if the skinny profile would have enough inner clearance for an M4 or Heavy Profile barrels since their diameter is less. So you think they'll work?

Yes. Over both M4 and SOCOM.

Should fit just fine. Canadians use them on the C8SFW and C8A3, which is basically a modified HBAR.

As has been said, yeah they'll fit. The Izzies have been doing it for a while.

That, sir, is similar to my next project. Putting it together with some odds and ends parts laying around - Colt A1 Upper, Colt A2 Lower and a 6920 barrel assembly. Still looking for a good quality N1 stock.

I went back to the origianal Carbine handguard, tapered, with DUAL heat shield. I would not go back to a single heat shield ever again.
