I hated Rogue One. Awful directing, awful dialogue, terrible writing in general. It wanted to be gritty and moving, but the behavior of the characters was came off more like a high school play.

I liked Mandalorian, overall. If I have one wish, it's that they get someone to help direct the fight scenes. The show sets the viewer up for gritty actions, plus accompanying elements. You can have gritty followed with humor. You can have gritty followed with cute. You can't have gritty Power Rangers fight scenes. Several fights start out Saving Private Ryan, but quickly go Power Rangers.

I don't know if it was the 2000's writers strike or what, but it feels like the majority of people writing in Hollywood today are the ones who used to write soaps.

Given the latest political news I’m pointing out that credit is due where it’s due. Just saying.

Try thinking of it as more a "Rebel propaganda film" and see if that helps.

I get what you’re saying. As a film and television editor, my guess is that they are limited many times by the technical issues brought from shooting with virtual sets. I’ve been on a couple, and they’re amazing facilities, but you are very limited in how you can shoot. I’m not 100% that you can do handheld or stedi-cam, so a lot of dynamic shots don’t happen. That will change, but right now, it’s holding some aspects back.

Well, that and they seem to be hell bent on this being the Sci-fi Kung Fu, so of course Mando has a kata he sticks to. This is the way.

I agree. Rogue One sucked. I still don't see what others who like it see in it. Whatever. Different strokes.

Rogue One was top 3 with IV and V (Star Wars and Empire). Was an awesome film, great lead up to Star Wars, loved it!

Every single Star Wars film since the original 3 has basically sucked barrel of dicks. Sad but that’s how it is.

The Mandalorian is an exception but I’m sure they’ll screw that up too.

Yeah, but all he did was the voice. John Wayne’s grandson is the day to day dude in the suit.
