Why? What’s worth defending when Bureaucratic red tape prevents good people who made a genuine mistake from serving? And it’s not just that. Society as a whole defines you by your past and never lets you move on. My friend is going through something right now and I feel terrible for him.

“... what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms. the remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. what signify a few lives lost in a century or two? the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. it is it’s natural manure.” - Jefferson

A.) There exists nowhere a system more worth defending.

B.) Do you really think the tyrants will end up shedding less blood than the patriots if it comes to open revolt? The mushy middle will always hunker down and wait for the smoke to clear. The passionate left will rely on central authority to implement their desired outcome. The passionate right will risk all on individuals organizing of all levels of society to defend our constitutional liberty. Given that much, if not most, of centralized authority is pro-constitution I know where I’d place my bet.

    1. My ancestors came here as political refugees. (They probably wouldn't be welcome today).

    2. We still have a worthwhile legal system.

    3. Most of us are better off than most people in most countries.

    4. We have constitutional liberties including, uniquely, RKBA.

    5. Where else would I go?

The principles (read that as the Constitution) the nation was built on are worth defending.

The people in this nation, regardless of how much we disagree, are worth defending provide they follow those principles.

However, I wouldn't give you a plugged nickel for a whole lot of Congress about right now.

Ive gone thru this several times. When the muslim was elected the first time, i damn near went to a tat shop to get the flag on my right arm covered over with a solid black square. Im SO GLAD I didnt.
Ive seen dozens of times when I was f-in fed up with the shit going on here...Waco...AWB'94....Obama...Clintons...just on & on & on & on.
But let me tell you what happened just last Sunday on my way to church.
Im driving out of Huntsville AL, north to Tennessee. GORGEOUS fall day...just beautiful. I get close to the TN line and turn onto a small very curvy, backroad shortcut thru the country I take.
While driving slowly, just really enjoying the scenery, listening to Bluegrass Gospel..IT HIT ME:
Here I am, in America....IN THE SOUTH..ARMED...going to worship as I see fit, un-afraid, no fear, fat & sassy as a corn crib rat, and I was then just sooo THANKFUL, for that day, that moment, that ride. Told my Pastor about it and we both agreed. My church is out in the boonies, very beautiful scenery, and I was just glad to be living in America in the sunny South at that.
America- she IS still worth it. The deviants, the perversions, the Godlessness, all the evil/sickness you see in the big cities, is still thankfully far away from us.
In closing- tonight, I came in from work, strapped on my piece, put on my TRUMP 2020 red hat, and went to a hood rat infested Kroger to pick up some groceries.
NARY A WORD OR SIDEWAYS LOOK was given. Ive NEVER had that kind of trouble you always see on these commie campuses or up North. I MIGHT, but not yet.
Yep..I aint throwin in the towel yet my friend.

I brought my kids up from an early age that decisions matter. Sorry for your friend, but life sucks and serving in the military or as a police officer is not the end all for serving the country. Without knowing what your friend is guilty of, it's pretty tough to give any more advice, but I do know that it's really easy to fall into the victim game and blame society instead of taking the hard road to overcome the obstacle.

I personally don't think this country will be worth defending. In about 10 years this country will be blue in every municipality, on every State and Federal level. Both The house and Senate and president will be run by left wing Democrat socialists. They will appoint more judges to the SCOTUS. They already threatened the supreme Court if they rule in favor of any second amendment cases they will pack the court with as many anti 2A justices as they can. Then you can kiss your guns goodbye for real. Along with the Constitution. So when that happens there's no point to be proud and defend this country. Unless another civil war happens. But nobody has balls to stand up to tyranny anymore.

”Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American… The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people”
