Gen 3 vs Gen 5

Just shot a Gen 5 G19 today. Other than the lack of finger grooves, without fine-tooth combing it to find the differences, I didn't notice any difference. Granted, it was a range rental but the trigger felt the same and I could have confused it for a Gen 4.

With the Gen 5's on the shelves, the price of the Gen 4's seem to have fallen. Another reason, for me at least, to stick with that generation.

My experience is unequivocably different. Owning both a gen 4 g19 and a gen 5 g19x and having shot and dry fired both, the difference is clear. Obviously there would be a greater distinction between a glock trigger and a tuned 1911. Among glocks, however, there is certainly a difference between the gen 4 and gen 5 models.

It might have been the rental that i shot. But carrying glocks for the last 5 years, i know glock triggers. And i can even tell if a glock is new from how it breaks. But that gen 5 had zero difference verse the gen 4 i shot at the same time.

Once the triggers get dirty (mine anyway) it feels like a gen4. White lithium grease in the trigger surfaces keeps it feeling like a gen5 longer.

Being new to Glocks with the addition of the Gen 5's. Something keeps drawing me to a G17 Gen 3.
WHY?? What is so good/better on a Gen 3 than any other Glock Gen model?
The Gen 3, G17 will feel different in my hand, correct, from a Gen 5?
Is the single recoil spring better/worse/same as the double spring??

It is the Cali Compliant model. 19/17 Gen 3's

Someone fill my brain about the Gen 3's. Would it be better than a G17 FS Gen 5? or a G35 Gen 5 MOS?

Generation 5 trigger is better.

You don’t have size adjustment on a Generation 3.

Springs are about the same. Recoil is about the same.

It boils down to your personal preference.

There are few Gen 3 TALO on sale on PSA...not sure if I need them or not.

I saw that, and i decided i needed one of them. Too bad i just picked up the glock 17 gen 4. I really like the 3rd gens. They will most likely be sold out when my gun fund recoups.

I kept wondering what was special on the TALO Glocks, They come with 15 round mags on the G19 instead of 10's

It says all over the site that TALO is just a discounted run that is not required to adhere to a Minimum Advertised Price (MAP). There is nothing different or special about the TALO Glocks other than price.

So get a Gen 5...
