Thread: Would a 11.5 KAC SR15 "pistol" be redundant with if I already run a 14.5 KAC SR15

Now whether you want to be optimistic about a grandfather clause and get one while you can, or avoid it in case they don’t grandfather, is up to you.

It's not so much that they went and banned NFA items (SBRs Suppressors Pre 86 MGs), they just haven't ever been legal... They try to pass an AWB, Magazine restrictions ect every year. They never go anywhere... There are no restrictions on firearms aside of NFA items just never have been legal

Well if they’re already trying, it’s likely only a matter of time. Look at VA.

I started with a home build 14.5" pin and weld, then got the itch to go shorter and built an 11.5" pistol. The pistol gets more use these days, but, it is the newer gun. I'm considering breaking up the 14.5 for parts, or convert it to a .22 trainer to fund an SPR/long range rig. The 14.5 is an Anderson(Poverty Pony) I built on the cheap to see if I'd like it, before I knew any better from what I've learned here. FWIW, I haven't had any issues with the upper, lower, or barrel (all the anderson parts). It still bothers me.

What is the purpose of the gun? 11.5" is probably more likely to be more geared toward home defense than an SR25....and will most likely replace the 14.5 for all intents and purposes. Save the 14.5 lower, part out the upper and put that toward the pistol or KAC, whichever is a higher priority.

I don't buy the line of "don't build a pistol cuz dey might get illeegal won day". They are legal today, and I'm going to enjoy it.

Bump stocks were legal, but now are illegal since the Republican Trump Administration reclassified them as machine guns. The AR-pistols can easily be reclassified as short-barreled rifles the same way. If so, they would be illegal to own in the OP state. Remember, Republican President Reagan made new manufactured machine guns illegal post-1986.

And have you noticed just how much "gun violence" has dropped since so many people have turned them in? The anti gun crowd will never give up trying to disarm the American public.

Compliance with unconstitutional laws is up the the end user.

Sorry for the thread drift, OP.

Why not get a BCM, Sionics, SOLGW 11.5 and save yourself a $1,000. They're not inferior.

The more I'm thinking about this, I think a 11.5 Mod 2 with an Aimpoint, 14.5 with a Nightforce 1-8 ATACR, and a SR25 with a 3-18 would be a good overall range of coverage in all categories...

If you can swing financing all that, sounds like a good plan. SBA3 (a4 wasnt out at the time) works without issue over the standard buffer tube. When I bought my upper, AIM had it for 10% off. KAC along with a few others were 10% off site wide last summer. Maybe next weekend they'll do another sale.

I travel the western states for work quite a bit and the 11.5 fits neatly into my economy car.

My problem is that, the more I read this site and listen to the manifold views of the membership, the more I want pretty much everything, which my savings account does not appreciate ...
