    Command Arms

I have searched many threads and could not find any info on this so please forgive me if it has already been discussed. I am building a .308 AR and have started with DPMS lower receiver. I got a CAA colapsable stock with ajustable cheek piece to go on it. I took it to a local sop to have some work done and they guy was giving me all kinds of trash for putting the CAA stock on there. Are they really that bad??? Does anyone have any experience good or bad with them?

Ya, you are not going to hear anything good about CAA.
If you want to feel good about your purchase, AR-fifteen-dot-com usually has tons of dudes that will tell you it's as good as or better than Magpul.

I have no dilusions that it is equal to Magpul, however, it feels like its sturdy... I have the magpul ctr on my .223, and the quality difference can be seen. I just cant see why people are so down on the CAA stock...that is unless some people have seen failures in the field...in which case would warrant immediate removal. I am looking for people that may have had bad experiences with their stocks so I can see the fault that apparently everyone else sees. I am not interested in feeling good about my purchase. I am interested in understanding the flaws of the item. As we all know they dont cost that much

Much of CAA's bad rap comes from the fact that much of their product line best falls into the category of "goofy-ass junk". Often when you see an AR that looks like it was dragged down the "tacky" aisle with the crap magnet turned on, it's got a bunch of CAA gear on it. Many of their parts seem to be designed around looking like props from the next Batman than necessarily being the most functional.

Now, it doesn't sound like you have any delusions about CAA being the new Magpul/Vltor, so as long as you're managing your own expectations, I'd say go for it. If it works for you, great. If it doesn't, oh well, lesson learned. This is assuming the rifle isn't going to be your #1 go-to duty rifle or something (which, being a home-assembled .308 AR, it probably isn't). It's not that CAA stuff is going to spontaneously combust while your cheek is on it....just that it's suspect enough to not be the choice for hard-use duty/defense weapons.

LMAO...okay...I get it. The fact that it is supect to failure because of the lack of quality is the reason for the majority of the negative view...in addition to the whole "crap magnet" thing. I guess I'll shoot it until it craps out. I guess I had better get an UBR before its too late

I'm leery of CAA stuff after owning a few of their products. Their quick detach flashlight mount wouldn't secure my 6p. Their mag coupler seems fine, but to be honest I've never really used it since I learned why mag coupler suck in general. After those experiences I've sworn off CAA stuff for the most part. The only thing that still has my interests is their stock saddle, but I'm thinking I'd rather have the real deal and just get a vltor modstock.

The CAA (when fully, or partially collapsed, with the cheek rest raised) looks like it interferes with the charging handle operation. Something like that could result in an extreme tactical error. My rule is, if the police and or military use it you can assume that it’s pretty good, or atleast tested, and/or trusted. Anything else is just a novelty.

    "crap magnet" lmao

I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Got to agree that most of their stuff is junk, but I have to say that I like their G27 tactical grip. I find it more comfortable then the Ergo grip.

Same here, the G27 is the only product they put out I will own and admit to liking. The ergo grip has never felt very ergonomic to me.
