223 Soft Point Bullets Created Equally?

With so many companies putting out their own ammo nowadays, I'm trying to find information on the minimum expansion velocities of different brand 223/556 soft point bullets. I know Gold Dots are said to expand down to 1800 fps, but it's hard to find info on any other brands. Is 1800 fps a general rule of thumb for soft points or does each different brand have their own minimum velocities for expansion? Any help would be appreciated.

Hornady ELD-X is listed as 1600 fps expansion velocity.

I have noticed in gel test videos that bullets traditionally considered to be varmint types that fragment with little penetration from 16"+ barrels tend to exhibit mushrooming and deeper penetration when fired out of less than 12" barrels so I would assume even lower velocities would result in expansion with the catch being the high velocity disintegration.

One should not assume all softpoints "work" down to 1800 fps.

That is critically dependent on the exact parameters for each particular model.

The selection of projectiles that work at those low velocities is pretty limited.

Nosler BSB also should work down to 1600 fps.

I agree, which is why I asked instead of assuming. Thank you for the info on the noslers, I'll have to look into those more.
