    One last item to check: what os stamped on the frame above the trigger guard on the left side?
    It will identify the original caliber and model.

    "os" is typo for "is".

    The last completed auction on gunbroker for a very similar gun sold 2-3 weeks ago for $400:

    Remember, only completed auctions matter. They represent what somebody actually paid for a gun. All the rest are seller's hopes and dreams.

    A family heirloom has the intangible bump that represents what the gun is worth to you. Market value is meaningless.

    Shot to shot speed will suffer with the offhand thumb cocking, but this will be offset in part by shooting “Texas Major”.
    (A power factor of 300 or above)
    A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.
