Fully loaded, my 47Ds were always impeccable for 6ish months. Then they'd start the cycle to be needed new mag springs.

If you want a 7 round magazine the gold standard is the Wilson 47.

If you want an 8 round magazine get the Wilson ETM-HD (500C-HD).

The Wilson Vickers mag is likely the best. https://shopwilsoncombat.com/1911-ET...oductinfo/800/

I have 47Ds bought in 2008. They work fine.
I have a SA stainless loaded in .45 ACP.
SA factory 7 rnd and SA 10 rounders work too.

I am also lucky. I have found the 47Ds to be great magazines. I have slowly transitioned to ETMs because I believe they offer some evolutionary improvements. Now some terrible .45 mags were the old ACT/Novaks mags. They were reliable, but they invariably cracked. I also have had great luck with Chip McCormic magazines.
Let those who are fond of blaming and finding fault, while they sit safely at home, ask, ‘Why did you not do thus and so?’I wish they were on this voyage; I well believe that another voyage of a different kind awaits them.”

Thanks very much, Jason. As always, we appreciate your counsel.

Is there one of the 10-rounders you can recommend? Or one that you have observed to have the fewest problems?

Thanks again, and have a terrific week!

Fewest problems?? ... with all honesty that can be a bit tricky to say. While I think that the best currently available 10rd single stack 45ACP 1911 magazine is the Wilson Combat ETM (500-45FS10), it should be noted that there are instances when people incorrectly attribute feeding issues and/or malfunctions to magazines. Magazines are not and have never been a cure all, a properly set up 1911 is still required in order to have a greater margin for success when using magazines holding in excess of 7 rounds.

So short answer is... in a properly set up 1911 the Wilson is a safe bet.

What's the difference between the 500C-HD and the regular 500's? EDIT: Looks like I found my own answer. Difference looks to be the base plate...

    I still wonder...

Is polymer or steel base better? Is there any difference between black or silver, or are those things personal preference?
