Pot is federally illegal. Many of the gun laws we adhere to are federal.

Until pot is legal on a federal level you can't smoke pot and do the gun thing.

I have had an ATF officer tell me that after no smoking pot for a year you can legally buy a gun again, per case law.

The even simpler function is to just stfu filling out your 4473 and go on about your business.

Gun owners always seem to want to make things difficult for themselves.

Part of the part of being "law abiding gun owners" is "law abiding". Of course it is easier to simply break the law. It's not the gun owners who are making things difficult for us, but the government who is making things difficult with convoluted and often conflicting laws. Please place your blame where it belongs.

The answer is an absolute yes. You'll either lie on the 4473 or if you tell the truth, the gun store will turn you away. This is true in all states.
