My take on the e-mail was that even though it would not be a violation of state law, it would be a violation of federal law to use cannabis.
If a person indicates they are not an unlawful user of cannabis when they complete a Form 4473, I believe that would be a false statement and prosecutable under federal law.
Regardless of what has been disseminated I'll bet the information is shared.
When teaching firearm courses, where I strongly encourage students become members of the ISRA, I am going to recommend to my students that they do not use cannabis if they do not want to endanger their ability to purchase and possess a firearm.
