    This Year Sucks Already ......

Had to help my best friend and constant companion across the Rainbow Bridge this morning and tonight is not going to be an easy night . This guy wasn`t just a fighter .... he was a warrior . He beat an unbeatable cancer , broken rear leg while chasing a squirrel , pneumonia and a front leg amputation because of the cancer over his life , and was always a wide open , happy dog . He got around on three legs almost as well as most dogs do on four , but he just couldn`t beat father time .

This past Monday , we took him for his last ride in our Side x Side and he had his head up barking at everything he saw ..... had a great day . On Tuesday , he started going downhill and then he left us today .

We held him and talked to him as he passed ...... and his companion is now grieving for him along with us.

I have had other rescues over the years and loved and cared for them all , but Pete was a dog that comes around once in a lifetime , and I was privileged and honored to have adopted him . He was just shy his 11th birthday , which is old for a Doberman , but it still hurts .

So sorry for your loss. I know my day is coming faster than I like, can't imagine how hard it'll be.

Been there too. It's hard to take. All I can say to help is that he doesn't hurt now. Sorry man. My heartfelt and sincere condolences.

Good lord, I've been in that exact spot, more than once. I'm so sorry. They are so giving, so loyal, such unconditional friends....it's so unfair that their lives become so intertwined with ours, and that they are so short.

    Feel for ya man.

Been down that road too many times. Yet I really like dogs so no doubt I will experience it even more. You sound like the kind who will too.

Well said. Their lives are way too short.

I started dating my now wife in 2003, we’ve been married since 2007, I say all that to say she’s only seen my cry twice. Both times involved the death of one of my dogs. Unless someone has truly understood the companionship of a good dog, they’ll never understand how hard it is when they leave you.

    Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss, we have an 8 year old female German Shepherd. Someday soon she’ll pass on to the happy hunting grounds and it will be a bad day.

So sorry man. I've been there myself a few years back when I lost my female dobie just shy of 13 years old. Dobies are special...they attach to you in a way that is hard to explain but a joy to experience. It was a very hard day.

I got another male dobie to keep my other younger female dobie company since she lost her buddy so that has helped. I am dreading the day I will have to face this inevitable situation again though.
