    firefly fans rejoice? Maybe!

Well, looks promising for the many fans out there and these days, enough encouragement from fans and things can happen:

“Firefly” executive producer Tim Minear recently reawakened fans’ demand for a revival (or maybe just made their cries louder than they already were) when he tweeted out a picture from the final day of shooting on Joss Whedon’s short-lived, cult-classic Fox series. And then Whedon added fuel to their fire by retweeting this.

Since Minear started this whole thing, TheWrap asked both him and Fox’s president of entertainment, Michael Thorn, what it would take to revive the Nathan Fillion-led space western at the Television Critics Association press tour Tuesday.

“The macro answer is, any time we look at one of our classic titles, if there’s a way to reinvent it for today so it’s as resonant now as the original was, and is, to the fans, we’re wide open,” Thorn said. “I loved ‘Firefly,’ personally, and I watched every episode. I didn’t work on it, but I loved the show. It had come up before, but we had ‘The Orville’ on the air and it didn’t make sense for us to have, as a broadcast network who is very targeted, to have two space franchises on our air.”

You will obviously find no bigger Firefly fan than me but sadly the time has passed.

Ron Glass is dead for real, everybody is almost 20 years older, and it has too much myth to live up to.

A movie after Serenity would’ve been great but it didn’t happen.

I do not want to see a reboot. I have Firefly and Outlaw Star on DVD if I wanna go back out to the Black.

I don’t cry that it ended, I smile that it happened.

    Firefly nailed it.
The simple fact of the matter is this, America has never not been great.

I mean, considering that Firefly isn't nearly as good as most people remember it being, any modern take on it, be it a remake or sequel, will likely get tons of hate. Regardless of how well or how poorly it was done, I'd expect Star Wars levels of disappointment and complaints, simply because it can't live up to the nostalgia of the original.

Yep. Of course I feel that way about most things. I number of sequels or remakes that are as good or better than the original I can probably count on one hand. Aliens and The Thing are the only ones off the top of my head.

The remake of 3:10 to Yuma was exceptional, but of course I had never heard to 3:10 yo Yuma and when I discovered the original it was a unremarkable western from 1957 that most people had never heard of. The other remake was Man on Fire and when I discovered their was an original film done in the 1980s with Christopher Walken and Joe Pesci I wondered how I ever missed it, then I saw it and it was painfully disappointing. Given the subject matter and the stars it should have been right up there with Die Hard and Taken.

With those noted exceptions, Hollywood generally destroys material and just ramps up the car chases and explosions, with CGI they don't even put in the time. Sci fi or any concept that is in any way profound gets totally lost. While it didn't suck, did Blade Runner 2049 truly add anything? It was more of an homage to the original that managed to not completely destroy the concept. But I don't think we got anything new.

Firefly was one of those rare sci fi concepts that sorta worked. On paper it sounded stupid, civil war / frontier drama in space. It's almost like somebody found the original Star Trek "Wagon Train to the Stars" pitch and decided to actually make it. But because there was actual story writing and some decent talent, it worked. And much like the original Star Trek you could tell when they seemed to be running out of new material and that the show was about to run it's course.

And they should simply leave it at that.

This right here is why it would suck. They (Hollyweird) has to turn everything political and make it "resonate" on that level, rather than having a fictional story. TV/movies are supposed to be an escape, not an indoctrination. (Hence why the new Star Wars movies were horrible overall and poorly received.)

This. Please don't "Star Wars" my Firefly.

It should be appreciated for what is was/is. I've joked for years to "bring back Firefly" and as much as I would love to see it done, it's time has sadly passed. If the past 10 years of movies (remakes and originals) are any indication, I'd rather they leave it rest in peace. A continuation at this point would only be a shadow of it's former self, an SJW-infused zombie resurrected to do the bidding of the Hollywood elites.

I'm with you on this one. It would have been nice 10 years ago. Today, I don't think they can do it justice. I love X-Files and was so excited when they brought tit back for 6 episodes... boy was I disappointed.
