    Night vision vs thermal, help!

I'm wanting to get some type of night optic so I can do some night hunting of yotes and pigs. I'd also like to use it for scanning the woods around my house, 2 and 4 legged, in a non threatening way (not on a firearm). I've looked at thermal, night vision, digital, monocular, ... and can't get a good understanding of what is acceptable for this need.

Would like to mount on .22, 5.56, and maybe .308.
Lowest cost to get 200 yard capability ($2,000?).
If a scope, would like some magnification, 4x or more.

    Any suggestions?

I dont think thermal will get you positive id of targets that far for $2k. $5k does with the nvision halo.
If you can PID by other means the thermal would get you the shot.

    Not sure about I2
