We took out C grunt today and banged on the mile. I did my semi annual gun cleaning so it took Mark his 5th shot to get on at a mile. But he banged it and I banged it again then again with 6.5CM factory ammo. Not sure how many rounds it took. Not a crazy amount though and lit it up.

C popped it with both 6.5 and 300WM. Good to have him out. Good dude. He just needed a spotter.

    Good day at the range.

Had a great day in the desert yesterday with Mark and Pappa. We decided to start at a mile, go big or go home I guess. Took a few rounds to foul the barrel on the 300s but after that it was on. Wind was a little tricky but those 300s cut through it pretty well.

The 6.5 Creedmoors took longer to get on target. Issue was our ballistic calculators were off by about 3 mils. Once we figured out the drop, something like 24.5 mils for Pappa's 147 ELD-Ms and 25 mils for my 140 ELD-M they were on. Wind holds were easily double that of the 300s. I got on target at a mile on my 10th shot. Pappa got on around 6 or 7 with his 6.5.

Mark also made a 1350 yard shot with the 308 on his 4th or 5th shot I believe.

The Magneetospeed target hot indicators are a god send at distance, especially with the smaller calibers. We could spot hits with the 300s easily at 1300 and a mile through the spotter. 6.5 on the other hand would have been a lot harder without the led lights.

    I also decided I need a 300.

1300 yard target through the spotter.

The most difficult part of making hits with 6.5 is that my scope dialed up to 20 mils then I had to hold over the other 4.5 mil then add wind and your holding off in space. I hate that stuff.

The clean barrel on the bolt guns slowed us up for 3-4 rounds. I was honestly anxious about shooting the mile again. We were able to get back on it though.

I would love to get out that way and try my hand at some of that long-ass range shooting. I only have a 6.5CM, no 30 cal magnums or anything...though I am interested in the new 6.5 and 300 PRC stuff.

I will holler at you guys if I ever head out that way and see if we can make a range trip.

Definitely. 6.5 gets there. Just a little more work, but that makes the hit that much more rewarding.
